Penny Black "Daffodil Dance 40-378" Easter Card

I just wanted to wish you a very Happy Easter and say how much I appreciate you stopping by my little blog of makes.

For this card, I used water colour card, spritzed with water.  I then used various shades of Distress Oxide Inks (Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint and Tea Dye) to stamp the Penny Black "Daffodil Dance 40-378" rubber cling stamp.  I then spritzed the stamped image again to make it a bit more blurry.

I added extra detail using a white gel pen and a 2B pencil.  Finally, stamping the Clarity sentiment (part of the Clarity "Entwined Sentiment Stamp Set") using Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.

The Crafting Niche 52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024:

The prompt for Week 14 is "Easter"

*****

This is the tag that I have made for the Week 14.

I have used the Clarity Stamps set called "Bunnies and Mask Set" stamping the bunny in Versafine Clair "Acorn" brown ink and then popping the mask over the top.

I then used "Salvaged Patina" Distress Oxide Ink through the Clarity Stamps "The Old Oak Stencil #110".

Once the stencil was removed I coloured the tree area in with a light brown Derwent Inktense pencil called "Tan 1710".

I coloured the bunny and the ground it stands on, in using another Derwent Inktense brown pencil called "Amber 1740".  I added some green for the grass using a Derwent Inktense pencil called "Fell Green - 1530" adding touches of yellow and orange Posca Pen to give the impression of flowers.

I used a bird from the Clarity Stamps "Birdhouse" set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Acorn Ink" adding touches of white gel pen to lighten areas.

Finally, I stamped the Easter sentiment in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.  The sentiment is part of the Clarity Stamp set called "Bijou Art Nouveau Collection" and then mounted the tag on to a pale pink background.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 43

It's Day 43 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challnege.  As it is Sunday, there is a new theme, this week is all about stamps and stamping.

I started with a square piece of card.  Using a black fine liner pen, I drew a square.  Then within that square, I drew four more squares.

I painted each of the four boxes a different colour using Prima "Tropicals" water colour paints.

Once the paint was dry, which was almost immediately I used Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink to stamp each of the Lavinia Stamps animals.  The stamps I have used are "Mooch" the cat, the "Snail Set", the "Large Owls" and one of the hares from the "Whimsical Hares" stamp set.

I outlined the stamping using a white Uniball Signo pen.  I added a touch of colour to the snail shell using  pastel pencils as the orange was a bit too strong on the shell area.

I decided that I would doodle in the background of each of the boxes.  I used a gold gel pen to create dots in the hare box.  I used a black fine liner pen to add squiggly horizontal lines with dots in the Mooch box.  In the snail box I drew lots of circles with the fine liner, then filled in the gaps between the circles using the same pen.  Finally, behind the owl, I used a black fine liner pen to draw broken vertical lines with green dots of gel pen between the breaks in the lines.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 42

Today is Day 42 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge.  This is the last day of charcoal / pastel week.

For the background, I have used lots of colours of Faber Castell "Soft Pastel Sticks", blending the colours lightly with my finger tip.  I spritzed the surface with hair spray to set the pastel on the surface rather than on me!

For the broad patterned lines, I used Versafine Clair "Nocture" black ink to stamp one of the Funky Fossil Designs "Doodle Borders".  Then I coloured in the edges in black.

I drew squiggly lines, dashes and lots of circles from the top left, drifting down to the bottom right hand corner, colouring them with a white gel pen, but the white was quite weak, which wasn't the look I was after, so I decided to cover them with Ranger White "Enamel Accents".  Finally adding a few touches of coloured Posca Pen across the surface and a Tim Holtz, Idea-ology "Big Chat" Word Sticker.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 41

Today is Day 41 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about using pastels and charcoal.  For this piece I have used both.

Today took me totally out of my comfort zone again, getting messy with soft pastel sticks and charcoal pencils.  I really don't like getting messy and trying to control the dust is a nightmare,  somehow I managed to get some on my face!

I started by tearing a page out of an old book with foxing and yellowed pages.

I used Faber Castell Soft Pastel sticks to draw the leaf, using greens, blues, mauves and pink colours. I didn't spend much time on it, I just went for it.

I used a Derwent Charcoal pencil to draw the dots in the background.  Then splattered white and black Posca Pen paint across the surface of the page.

Using a black fine liner pen, I drew three squiggly lines around the page and then drew circles on the leaf area itself.  Finally, I added a word sticker saying "and breathe..." then spritzed the surface with hairspray to set the chalky finish.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 40

Today is Day 40 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge.  This week is all about using charcoal and pastels.

I had an off cut of white card measuring 95mm square, so decided to use that as the base. I coloured it using Van Goch Pastel Pencils, blending the colours together, by rubbing my finger tip across the surface.  The colours I used were Blue, Mauve, Pink and Green.

I then used "Della Blue" Elements Ink through the Funky Fossil Designs "Shoal of fish stencil".  While the ink was out, I inked the edges of the card using a finger dabber.

I mounted the card on to a piece of dark blue paper and then on to a card blank.

On an off cut of white card, using "Della Blue "Elements Ink again, I stamped the "Swim your own way" sentiment, which is part of a stamp set called "Wierd Fish" by Funky Fossil Designs. I cut the sentiment up into words and glued them in to position using wet glue.

Finally, using a silver glitter and a white gel pen, I added extra dots around the shoal of fish.

Folk Art Style hand painted card

This is a little card I made by painting folk art flowers using three shades of Decoart Americana Arcylic Paints, using Avocado, Snow (Titanium) White and Pebble.

I mouted the card on to a piece of green card and then on to a kraft card blank and then used Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink to stamp the Simon Says Stamps sentiment.

Zentangle 60th Birthday Eclipse Card

I fancied doing something totally different, so tried my hand at doing a "Zentangle".

I used a black Posca Pen to draw a squiggly line over the card, then set too filling in the areas.  I really enjoyed the process as it was so calming.  It did take a couple of hours though.

Once finished, I decided the design would work well as an eclipse card and as our male friend celebrates his 60th birthday this weekend, decided it would be for him.

In the middle of the card, I positioned two large die numbers, securing them with pieces of low tack tape.  I then run it through the "Big Shot".

on the back of the card, in the area where the numbers were cut out, I used double sided sticky tape to secure a piece of red paper.  (The red paper is a little nod to the recipient being a Manchester United fan). Then around the edges of the underside of the card used more tape then stuck it to a piece of black card, trimming to size. I then added it to a 7x7" card blank.

At the base of the card, using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black Ink I stamped the Funky Fossil Designs greeting, using a stamp from their "Stripped Back Sentiments" stamp set.

Returning to the die cuts, I lay them in position on the card and then glued the two oval infills of the numbers on to the card.

I lifted the actual numbers from the card (leaving the infills in position) and added foam pads to the underside.  I was then able to align the numbers in the correct position.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge - Day 39

Today is Day 39 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about using charcoal and pastels.

For my card, I started by using the "Permanant Red 340.5" Pan Pastel, blending it in an rough circle in the middle of a square shaped card.

Over the top of the red circle, I lay the Funky Fossil Designs "Buddah Stencil", securing it with a piece of tape.  I then used "Black 800.3" Pan Pastel through the stencil.  I removed the stencil and then gave the surface a waft of hairspray to set the pastels.

Using wet glue, I added Cosmic Shimmer gold gilding flakes from the bottom left hand corner to the top right. I then added splatters of white paint across the surface.

Finally, I mounted the card on to a piece of black card and then added dots of "Copper Pearl" Liquid Pearls around the gilding flakes.  I also added a few dots of gold using a gel pen too.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 38

Today is Day 38 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge.  This week is all about using charcoals and pastels.

Totally out of my comfort zone, I quickly drew a flower using Derwent Charcoal Pencils.  I deliberately didn't spend very long on it.  I don't like getting messy when I craft and using charcoal pencils seems to put charcoal dust every where and it's very hard not to leave messy finger prints on the whiete surface of the card.

Using charcoals is not something I'll be rushing to do again!

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 37

Today is Day 37 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge, it's the second day for the prompt of using charcoal / pastels.

Starting with a piece of white card, measuring 11x15cm, I covered the surface using "Magenta 430.5" Pan Pastel.

Then around the edges of the card I applied a darker shade of Pan Pastel, using "Violet 470.5". I then added some more "Magenta" Pan Pastel in the middle to blend in the colours a little more.

Slightly in from the left hand side, but roughly half way up, I blended a circle of "Titanium White 100.5" Pan Pastel.

Next, using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black Ink, I stamped the Lavinia Stamps "Lupin" the hare.  I stamped the Lavinis "Star Cluster" around the white Pan Pastel area, behind the head of Lupin.

I used Versafine Clair "Twilight to ink the edges of the card, I also used it with the Lavinia Stamps "Hill Mask" to create the landscape.

Using "Nocturne" again, I stamped the Lavinia Stamps "Vine Branch", a black bird from the Lavinia "Bird Collection" stamp set.  I then multi-stamped the "Small Branch" in the bottom right hand corner.

In the background and around the stamped areas, I used "Violet 470.5" Pan Pastel through the Lavinia Stamps "Feather Leaf Stencil".

I added extra details using gel pens and Posca Pens,

The Crafting Niche 52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024:

The prompt for Week 13 is "On The Water"

*****

This is the tag that I have made for the Week 13.

For my tag, I have used a Stampin' Up stamp set that I have had in my stash for a while, called "Moon Lake".  I used the bird and the little island with the boat and tree from the stamp set, stamping both in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink.

I used some of my Stampscape stamps on this tag too, using the "Small Isle" stamped in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink and the "Reeds" stamped in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink in both first and second generation stamping.

I then coloured in the water area, using "Tumbled Glass" Distress Oxide Ink.

For the sky I used a mix of Distress Oxide Inks using "Tumbled Glass", "Lost Shadow" and "Weathered Wood".

I then moved on to the boat using two shades of brown Distress Oxide Inks:  Tea Dye and Frayed Burlap, I used the same shades to colour the bird too.

For the tree canopy I used three shades of green Distress Oxide Inks:  Crushed Olive, Mowed Lawn and Rustic Wilderness, using "Frayed Burlap" for the tree trunk.

For the sand around the boat I used "Mustard Seed" Distress Oxide Inks.

Other mediums I used on this tag were Posca Pens, gel pens and a 2B pencil too.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 36

Today is Day 36 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  There is a new theme for the coming week of charcoal/pastels.

I started with a piece of white card, cut into a tag shape.  I covered the tag is "Diarylide Yellow - 250.3" Pan Pastel.

I then lay the Clarity Stamps "Trellis Stencil" over the top of the yellow, securing in position with a piece of masking tape.  I then applied a green coloured Pan Pastel through the stencil.  The colour is called "Chrome Ox Green 660.3". I gave the surface a good spray of hair spray to set the surface. other wise the colour would rub off.

Using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black Ink, I stamped the Clarity "Barbara's A5 Star Flower".  I then stamped the flower heads again on to a piece of white card.  I fussy cut the flowers and stuck them over the flower heads on the tag.

Using a hole punch with white card, I punched several little cirles.  I then glued these in to position with in the background trellis, filling in areas with a black fine liner pen,

I used orange and yellow Posca Pens on the flower heads.  Finally, I mounted the tag on to a piece of white card.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 35

Today is Day 35 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge.  It's the last day of creating texture. This is a large piece for me.  It measures 27cm square. I've used Clarity Stamps and stencils.

I started with white card, using Ranger "Opaque Crackle Texture Paste" through the Clarity Stamps "Squiggly Round Stencil #118". I used a heat gun to accelerate the drying and crackle process, so that I could move on to the next stage.

Next, I used three shades of Ranger Archival Inks, using Sunflower, Tiger Lily and Poppy colours through the Clarity Stamps "Three Blooms Stencil" around the edge of the textured area and off the edge of the card.

In the top left and bottom right hand corner, I multi stamped the Clarity  "Fly Away Stamp Set" using Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

I mounted the piece on to red, white and then black card.

Next, I used Black and white Enamel Accents to add dots across the surface of the card.  I then decided to add some  dots of "Ruby Red" Liquid Pearls too.

I used a Clarity "Word Sticker" from their "Word Sticker Collection", mounted on to black card and then placed in the middle of the card, using black foam sticky pads to elevate the "Thank you for being my friend" sentiment.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge - Day 34

It's Day 34 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about texture. My raindrops are coated in "Glossy Accents" to give a wet look.

For my piece, I used Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink with the Designs By Ryn "Waterdroplets CM-T3" rubber cling stamp.

Around the droplets, I used diluted "Lost Shadow" Distress Oxide Ink, applied with a paint brush.

For the actual droplets, I painted "Tumbled Glass "Distress Oxide Ink" so diluted with water that there was barely any colour.

Once dry, I mounted the painted piece on to grey and then white card. Finally, I applied Ranger "Glossy Accents" to the droplets to give a wet look/3D look to them.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 33

Today is Day 33 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about texture. For my make, I've gone for a more industrial look today using foils.

I started off with two plain tags.  With one tag, I tore off a piece of copper coloured foil tape and stuck it vertically down the centre of the tag.  I then put that to one side.

I tore off a length of silver coloured sticky back foil tape, scrunched it up into a ball and then smoothed it over the surface of the second tag, using an old store card to get it relatively flat.  I then covered the foil tape with a black Sharpie pen.

Next, I used a die with a herringbone style to cut the central pattern, retaining the small cut out pieces.

I buffed the Sharpie covered foil, lifting the majority of the pen, but leaving remnants in the creases of the foil and around the die cut area.

Around the edges of the copper foil tag, with the foil facing upwards, I added double sided sticky tape, peeling off the paper and then laying the silver foi tag on top of the copper one.  I smoothed the edges to ensure they were fully stuck.

I then mounted the tag on to a piece of black card and cut it to size.

Finally, using wet glue I stuck the small pieces of die cut around the edges, these still had the darker colour so there was a nice contrast.  Then I added two Tim Holtz "Idea-ology Big Chat" word stickers saying "Waiting Within" to give a nod to the warmth of the copper colour showing through the die cut area.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100dayartplay Challenge - Day 32

Today is Day 32 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about texture, so on this piece I have used two types of texture paste.

Starting with a square piece of white card, I lay the Funky Fossil Designs "Doodle Daisies Stencil" designed by Zinski Art over the card, securing with a tab of low tack tape.  Through the stencil, I applied Ranger "Opaque Crackle Texture Paste".  I left it to one side to dry, but then used my heat gun to accelerate the crackle look to the surface.

I then spritzed the surface with water and tapped a very small amount of two Brusho powders, using "Gamboge" and "Moss Green" colours.  I wafted my heat gun over the surface to dry.

I used "Monarch Orange" Archival Ink on a foam blender to add some colour to the crackle finished flowers.

Next I used another Funky Fossil stencil, this one was called "Make your mark III" for the hexagon design.  This time, I used Ranger "Matte Distress Texture Paste" through the stencil, drifiting the shapes from one corner of the card diagonally. Once dry, I mounted the card on to a piece of green card and then a piece of white card.

Finally, I added some yellow Posca Pen to the middle of the flowers.  Then used two shades of Liquid Pearls (Avocado & Copper Pearl), along with Ranger white "Enamel Accents" to make dots over the card.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge - Day 31

It's Day 31 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This is week is all about texture.

For this card, I decided to go for a textural 3D style card, using a background die plate and stamping. It's something I've not done for ages and a process I have always enjoyed, so it seemed the ideal time to try it again.

I started by cutting four piece of card to the same size.

Using a Stamping Platform with the ballet dancer stamp from the Visible Image ""Born to perform" stamp set, I stamped the image on two pieces of card, ensuring the card was tight in the corner of the platform.

I put one of the stamped cards to one side and the other, I lay a Spellbinder die over the top, sorry, I don't know what it is called, I have had it for at least fifteen years, but its got a floral/scroll type design.  I secured the die in position with a piece of tape then popped it through the Big Shot.

With this die, it doesn't have a cut edge, so I pushed the loose pieces out but retained some of the others for added interest.

I used the same procedure with the other two plain pieces of card.  Then stuck these two together.  I then glued the sandwich of card on top of the stamped piece of card put to one side earlier.

Next, very carefully, I glued and positioned the stamped die cut image over the top, ensuring the die cuts were aligned.  I then trimmed it to size, mounted on to a piece of dark blue card and then on to a card blank.

To finish the card, using Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink, I stamped the Funky Fossil Designs "Congratulations" (from their "Stripped Back Sentiments" stamp set), on to an off cut of card, trimmed to size and then added to the front of the card.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 30

Today is Day 30 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about "texture", so I looked around my stash and came across some skeleton leaves that have been lurking in my cupboard for close on twenty years, so I decided to make use of some for this challenge today.

I sprayed the surface of a cream coloured tag with spray adhesive and positioned the skeleton leaves.  Because edges kept lifting, I went over the top of the whole tag including the leaves with "Matte Distress Collage Medium" to ensure everything stayed in position.

I inked the edges of the tag with two shades of Versafine Clair ink, first using "Pine Cone" a brown ink and then on the very edges using "Nocturne" black ink.  I then mounted the tag on to a piece of black card.

I used a black Posca Pen to splatter paint across the surface of the tag, finally sticking some Nuvo "Rose Gold Sequins" over the top using Ranger "Glossy Accents" as adhesive.

The Crafting Niche 52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024:

The prompt for Week 12 is "Ireland

*****

This is the tag that I have made for the Week 12.

I've opted to used the Irish flag for the background colours.  I masked off the central section, using low tack tape and then used Versafine Clair "Green Oasis" on the left hand side and "Russet Orange" Elements ink on the right hand side.

I used the lips/kiss from the Visible Image stamp set called "Dare to be different", stamped in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

Finally, using a Dymo tape printer, I printed the words "The Blarney Stone" deliberately placing the words "Blarney Stone" words upside down.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 29

Today is Day 29 of the Tiffany Johnson creative #100daysartplay challenge.  It's also the start of Week 4, so there is a new theme.  The theme for Week 4 is "Texture".

I thought I would kick this theme off with a clean and simple design, using a Gemini/Crafters Companion deep embossing folder that screams texture to me.

I mounted the card on to a piece of dark blue paper and then on to a white card blank.

Using Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink, I stamped the Simon Says Stamp sentiment, which is part of their set called "Tiny Words - Birthday" on to white card, trimmed and then mounted it on to matching dark blue paper.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 28

It's Day 28 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  It's the last day of using household items.  I've used a jiffy bag, cardboard and a page from an old book for my household items.

For my tag, I have used the paper side of a jiffy bag.  I scrunched up the paper and then smoothed it a little and inked the surface so that the crease lines were inked up, using "Paprika: Elements Inks.  I then glued the paper on to a tag and trimmed the excess off.  I then inked the edge of the tag with the same ink and then with Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

I then used some sheets from an old hymn book, using both the music notes and the text.  Tearing into smaller piees, then adding a bit of colour using various inks.  I then glued the paper fragments into position.

I used the "Paprika" Elements Inks again, this time through the dotty end of the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous stencil with a reference of THMM101.

I splattered black and white paint over the surface of the tag using Posca Pens. I then mounted the tag on to red card.

I rummaged through my stash of pre cut die cuts and found a couple of hearts.  I stuck the large heart in the middle of the heart.  I had a small off cut of cardboard with the corrugation exposed so I gave it a coat of Gesso, when dry, I then rubbed some "Paprika" Elements Inks over the raised edges, then stuck it horizontally in the middle of the tag.

Finally, over the top of the cardboard, I added another die cut heart from my stash and added a small button in the middle and then added some dots of Ranger black Enamel Accents across the surface of the tag.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 27

Today is Day 27 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge.  This week is all about using household items. For my tag, I have used an instruction sheet from a box of medication, torn and pasted, collage style, using Distress Collage Medium on to a tag base.

Over the top of that, I have masked off horizontal stripes.  In each alternate stripe, I have painted "Candy Floss" Pink Paperartsy Acrylic chalk paint.

Once the paint was dry, I used a black fine liner pen with a ruler to edge the pink stripes.

I used Versafine Clair "Rain Forest" ink to stamp the Penny Black "Breezy - 40-111" cling stamp over the background design.  I then inked the edges of the tag using the same ink.

Finally, I mounted the tag on to a piece of matching green card, punched a hole in the top and added a large button to the tag.  The button had been lurking in my stash for some time, so it was a good reason to make use of it!

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 26

It's Day 26 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about using "Household Items".  For my make, I have used the netting bag that holds onions from the supermarket.  I also rummaged through my stash and found three embroidered daisies that had been rescued from an item of clothing years ago.

I started with a cream coloured tag, uisng "Pebble Beach" Ranger Archival Ink through the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous "String - THS004 stencil".

Next, I used "Red Geranium" Ranger Archival Ink through the "Sparkle Layering - THS132 stencil" to create the stars.

I used double sided sticky tape to secure the onion nettin on the reverse of the tag.  Then mounted it on to a piece of dark red card.

Finally, I glued the gold embroidered daisies, salvaged from an item of clothing, many years ago, into position across the tag.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 25

It's Day 25 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100dayartplay Challenge - a quarter of the way through.  This is day four of a week of using "Household Items".

This is my Day 25 make.  I started using a piece of cardboard from a cereal box for the background.  I covered the cardboard with pieces of scrunched up and smoother sticky packed foil tape.

I mounted the foil covered cardboard on to a piece of teal coloured card.  Using the off cuts of the teal card, I cut it into thin strips and stuck them in position over the copper foil, alternating from the edge of each side.

Moving the prepared background to one side, I took some white paper straws, arranging the position of the lengths till I was happy and put some tape along the middle on both sides to retain the position.  I then wrapped the central area in more copper tape.  I then positioned and glued the drinking straws on to the background using double sided sticky tape.

For the central embellishment.  I glued two layers of 2x2" pieces of cereal box cardboard together.  With more of the same cardboard, I die cut two hearts and glued them together then glued them to the middle of the square.  I tore off a strip of copper sticky backed tape and scrunched it up into a tight ball, I then smoothed it out a little and positioned over the cardboard.

I used a paper stump to outline the heart and I smoothed over the surface of the heart using an old store card.  I then went over the whole square, including the heart with a black Sharpie pen, then rubbed off the surplus using a piece of kitchen towel and then a soft cloth to buff it.  Finally, mounting the square on to the background using foam pads.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100dayartplay Challenge - Day 24

Today is Day 24 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  The prompt for this week is "household items".

I started with a piece of cardboard I rescued from the recycling box.  Stripping some of the surface away to reveal the texture of the corrugation.

I painted the surface of the cardboard using two shades of Paperartsy Acrylic Chalk Paint, using "Slimed" a green shade and then "Southern Skies" a deep blue colour.

Once the surface was dry, I added extra dimension by using Ranger "Matte Distress Texture Paste" through the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous stencil called "Shifter Layering Stencil - THS127".

While the paste was drying, I folded a piece of kitchen roll (my household item) and roughly cut circles into the paper towel.  I then stuck these on to the surface using wet glue.  Some of the discs were single layers and some double.

I splattered yellow and blue paint across the surface using Posca Pens.  Then mounted the piece on to dark blue card.  Finally, adding a Tim Holtz "Idea-ology Big Chat" word sticker to the surface.

Lavinia Stamps "Dragons Thorn" Crow Card

As soon as I opened my pack of new Lavinia Stamps, the "Dragons Thorn" stamp shouted at me to be paired with a crow.  So who am I to not go with it.

I went for a very clean and simple card to highlight the strong design detail of the stamp used for the branch, stamping in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

The stamps I used were the new "Dragons Thorn", "Crow Set" and a sentiment from the "Heartfelt Verse" stamp set.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 23

It is Day 23 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  The theme for this week is use household items.

How long is a piece of string... For my Day 23, I have used string, a "household item that lingers in the drawer for years and rarely gets used.

I started with a piece of kraft card measuring 5x5".

I used a circle mask to make the background circles, using "Light Gold" Pan Pastel through the mask.  I added splatters of black and white Posca Pen then mounted the card on to a piece of dark blue card and then a piece of white card.

I die cut a circle in the same kraft card, then coated one side with a wet glue and wound the string in circles till I reached the edge of the die cut.  On the underside of the disc, I added foam pads then popped the disc in the middle of the card.  Using wet glue again I drew a trail and stuck the string to it.

I printed out the phrase "How long is a piece of string", cut it to size then mounted the phrase on to a piece of dark blue card, sticking it in position using double sided tape.

52 Week Mini Art Card / Tag Challenge 2024 - Week 11

The challenge for 2024 is weekly.  I will provide you with a prompt/theme each Sunday morning through out the year.  The challenge is very relaxed.  You can do as much or as little as you like.  You can create cards, tags, Artist Trading Cards (ATC's) or index cards, the choice is yours. You just go with what ever is in your head at the time.  You can stamp, get inky, use patterned papers, texture, embellish it is all down to you.

There is a dedicated private Facebook Group, with a lovely bunch of people who are already sharing their makes from previous challenges.  You can find the group by clicking this link.  I'd love you to join in.

The Crafting Niche 52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024:

The prompt for Week 11 is "Create your own pattern"

*****

This is the tag that I have made for the Week 11.

I used a plain manila coloured tag and a black Sharpie pen for my tag, keeping the design really simple.  I drew a flower petal on a piece of cardboard and used that as my template, drawing round it multiple times to create an "off the edge" flower pattern.  I then filled in the middle of each petal with more black Sharpie pen. I edged the tag in black and then mounted it on to a piece of black card.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 22

Today is Day 22 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge.  It is also the start of a new week of prompts.  This week is all about household objects.

For my household object for this tag, I have covered a tag in an Asda supermarket till receipt in a collage format, so torn and overlapping till the tag was covered. I then slightly diluted the Paperartsy Acrylic Chalk Paint in an orange shade called "Cayenne" and painted over the till receipts so that the detail just pokes through in areas.

Once dry, I used a white Posca Pen to splatter paint across the surface of the tag.

Next, using Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue" I stamped the doodle patterns vertically on the tag, using a Funky Fossil Designs stamp called "Doodle Borders".  While the ink was out, I inked the edges of the tag.

I mounted the tag on to a piece of dark blue card cut to tag shape.  Finally, going around the edges and filling some of the doodle areas in using a turquoise coloured Posca Pen.

Lavinia Stamps "Botanical Blossoms" Tag

My order of the new stamp release from Lavinia Stamps arrived early afternoon, so I wasted no time in getting to play with my favourite stamp from the new release, the "Botanical Blossoms".

I cut a piece of kraft card in to a tag shape, then using Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink, stamped the new "Botanical Blossom" stamp, coating the stamped image with Wow! Clear Embossing Powder and then heat setting.

Next I used "Paradise Teal" Ranger Archival Ink through the "Lavinia Stamps "Nimbus Stencil" fading the colour out towards the edges.

I then used Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink to stamp "Words of Spring" in second generation stamping.  I then inked the edges of the tag with Versafine Clair "Twilight" ink.

Finally, I made splatters with a white Posca Pen around the edges of the stamping.  I used a white gel pen to add a little detail to the stamped image and then mounted the tag on to a piece of dark blue card.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 21

This is Day 21 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  The theme for the week is "use a palette knife" and I really have found this week a challenge, having to think a bit differently about my makes and definitely taking me out of my comfort zone!

I rescued a piece of cardboard from the recycling box tore a bit off and then started peeling off some of the paper layer, to expose the ridges between the corrugation.

I used two shadess of Paper Artsy Chalk Paints for the background colour, using "Lake Wanake" and "Snowflake".

Once the paint was dry, using a palette knife I spread some Ranger "Matte Distress Texture Paste" using the edge of the palette knife to create the lines similar to the cardboard.

Over the top of the paste, I added a selection of silver and greeen/blue glitter, white beads, sequins "Crystal" Stickles and "Periwinkle" Liquid Pearls.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 20

Today is Day 20 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge.  This week is all about using the palette knife.

I've used a background created using Dylusion Spray Inks, using "Lemon Zest" and "Bubblegum Pink" colours.

Once dry, I used That's Crafty "Sand Texture Paste" through the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous "Tiny Poinisettia - THS163" stencil applied with a palette knife.  This really is a gritty texture paste, quite similar to cement in texture!

Once the texture past was dry, I inked the edges using "Charming Pink" Versafine Clair ink and then mounted the card on to a piece of navy blue coloured card.

I added some dots of orange and pink Posca Pens to the area between the flowers, then added dots of "Ruby Red" Liquid Pearls to the middle of the flowers.

Finally, I mounted a Tim Holtz, Idea-ology "Big Chat" word sticker on to a piece of navy blue card and stuck it in position using foam pads so the sentiment is more elevated.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 19

It's Day 19 of the "Tiffany Johnson Creative" #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about the "palette knife".

This is my make for Day 19. I've used pieces of a torn book page, glued into random positions on a piece of beige coloured card.

Next, I have used two Funky Fossil Designs stamp sets: "Musings" and "Abstractions" with Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink and "Acorn" brown ink.  I then inked the edges of the card using "Nocturne".

Next I used a Ranger texture paste through areas of the Funky Fossil "Abstract Ovals stencil", finally mounting it on to black paper and then on to grey card.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 18

It's Day 18 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge.  This week is all about using a palette knife.

For this tag, I have used four colours of Dylusion Spray Inks, using Lemon Zest, Fresh Lime, Bubblegum Pink and London Blue.

I then used That's Crafty "Black Texture Paste" through the Lavinia Stamps "Feather Leaf Stencil".

Once the texture paste was dried, I rubbed Cosmic Shimmer "Old Gold" Gilding Wax over some areas of the black texture paste, it shows quite dull in the photograph, but actually shows up quite well in real life.

I mounted the tag on to a piece of black card, then on an off cut of black card added one of the Lavinia Stamps "Sentiment Sticker 6" cutting a border around the word sticker, before adding it to the tag with black foam pads to elevate the sentiment.

Photo Birthday Card

As you may recall, I struggle making cards for males.  It's our sons birthday today and I was totally stumped about what card to make.  I then remembered a photo I had taken of him and his dog "Fergie" last summer and decided to print the photo and make it into a card.

I matted the photo on to a piece of dark blue card then used sticky tape to glue it to the central area of an 8x8" card.

Around the edge of the photo, I used a Funky Fossil stencil called "Birthday Celebration Words" with "Tumbled Glass" Distress Oxide Ink.

Using the Simon Says Stamp "Clean Lines Everyday" stamp set I stamped the "Happy Birthday" greeting using Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue" ink.  I then used the die cut from the matching set to cut the shape.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 17

It's Day 17 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week the theme is to use a palette knife.

I found a backgroud in my stash that had paint splodges across it, so decided that this would be the base of my tag, sticking the patterned paper to a tag to give it a bit more substance.

Next, I used the Ranger "Opaque Crackle Texture Paste", applied with a palette knife through the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous "Bubble Layering Stencil - THS138', just keeping it to the right hand side of the tag.  I then used my heat gun to accelerate the crackle process.

I used two shades of Distress Oxide Ink to colour the crackle area, using "Victorian Velvet" and "Iced Spruce".  I then Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink to ink the edges of the tag, before mounting it on to a piece of black card and cutting to size.

Finally I added two words to the tag "Say" and "Something", both are from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology "Big Chat" word sticker booklet.  I stuck them on to black card, cut to size and then used black foam pads to elevate the words.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100dayartplay Challenge - Day 16

Today is Day 16 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge.  This week is all about using the "Palette Knife", which takes me totally out of my comfort zone!

Just to add to the discomfort, I decided to try out oil paints for the first time.  I had a cheap set of Crelando Oil Paints from Lidl. I've never done anything with oils before, but I actually really enjoyed the randomness of the process.  No idea if I've done it right or wrong, but I quite like the look of the finished scene.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 15

It's Day 15 of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplaychallenge and the start of the Week 3 theme of using a palette knife.

I used to palette knife to apply Distress Texture Paste through the Funky Fossil Designs "Butterfly Wreath" opting to position the wreath off the edge of the tag.

Once the texture paste was dry, I used Dylusions "Crushed Grape" ink spray to spritz the surface of the tag, this highlighted the raised textured areas.

I mounted the tag on to a piece of white card and with the off cut of card, die but the two layers of the white butterfly, using the Memory Box "Pippi Butterfly die 98508" and the "Isabella Butterfly die 98507".  I then die cut a further two Isabella butterflies using an off cut of patterned paper.  I used wet glue to stick them in position.

The Crafting Niche 52 Week Mini Art Card/Tag Challenge 2024:

The prompt for Week 10 is "Clouds"

*****

This is the tag that I have made for the Week 10.

I decided to create a whimsical theme, so started with a white tag and used the Funky Fossil "In The Clouds" stencil with "Sky Blue" Archival Ink to create the sky.

I moved on to the landscape, using the Lavinia Stamps 'Hill Mask" with Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" and "Rain Forest" green inks.

I then stamped the fir trees in the distance, using Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink in first and second generation stamping using the Lavinia Stamps "Small Fir Trees" stamp set.

I then used the Lavinia stamp set called "Jas & Seb's Houses" for the toadstool, stamping in second generation stamping using Versafine Clair "Acorn" brown ink.

I used Versafine Clair "Acorn" brown ink again with the Lavinia "Small Branch" stamp to stamp the branches off the edge of the tag.

I stamped the Lavinia Stamps "Berry Leaves" in first and second generation stamping, at the base of the tag using Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink.

To colour the toadstool, I used Derwent Inktense pencils applied with a paint brush.  I then added touches of Posca Pen and black fine liner to details of the tag.

Finally, I inked the edges of the tag using Versafine Clair "Medieval Blue" and "Rain Forest", I then mounted it on to a piece of dark blue card.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 14

Today is Day 14 of Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge, the final day of Week 2 with a prompt of "Stencils".

For the background design, on a white card, I have used three shades of Distress Oxide:  Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron and Mermaid Lagoon. I blended the colours to that they were lighter on the top right, blending to darker in the bottom left hand corner. Over the top of that I lay the Funky Fossil Designs "Cellular Stencil" and applied "Night Sky" Ranger Archival ink through the stencil.

For the eye, I used Ranger "Jet Black" Ranger Archival Ink through the Visible Image "Eye Contact Stencil" over the top of the patterned background.

The actual eye area didn't show up too much, so I decided to sort that by using the same ink and stencil on a piece of white card and fussy cutting it. I then repeated the process for the central iris area, painting it with two shades of Distress Oxide Inks, using "Tumbled Glass" and "Salvaged Patina".  I then added some yellow Posca Pen to the eye too.

Finally, I mounted the card on to a piece of black paper and then on to a piece of white card, adding a Lavinia Stamps word sticker (from their Sentiment Sticker set 6), saying "Look Up" to the bottom right hand corner.

Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay Challenge - Day 13

It's the second week of the Tiffany Johnson Creative #100daysartplay challenge. This week is all about "stencils".  This is the tag that I made for Day 13.

This was a very quick tag to make, using a base of white card, I lay the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous "Gingham Layering Stencil - THS134" over the white tag shaped piece of card and applied two shades of Distress Oxide Ink through the stencil usin a blending brush.  The colours I used was "Mowed Lawn" at the top of the tag and "Wilted Violet" at the base.

Next, I lay the Tim Holtz / Stampers Anonymous "Sparkle Layering Stencil - THS132" over the top and applied "Dark Denim" Elements ink through the stencil.

I then mounted the tag on to a piece of navy blue card and cut to the tag shape.

Finally, using "Medieval Blue" Versafine Clair Ink, I stamped the "Happy Birthday" greeting on to a piece of white card.  The stamp is part of the Simon Says Stamp "Creative Everyday" set.  I die cut the greeting using the matching die set and then added it to the central area of the tag using foam pads to elevate the greeting.
