No crafting due to bereavement

There won't be any crafting for a while.  Last Friday, my much loved Mother-in-law passed away leaving a huge black hole in our lives.

Lavinia Stamps "Bramble" Sympathy Card

I played with another new Lavinia Stamp this evening, this time I clear heat embossed the "Bramble" stamp with Wow! Embossing Ink with Clear Embossing Powder which I heat set.

I used a "My Favourite Thing" stamp from their "Essential Sentiments" set, stamped in Wow! Clear embossing ink and then covered in Metallic silver Super Smooth embossing powder and heat set.

Lavinia Stamps "Blackberry" Tag

A couple of days ago, Lavinia Stamps released 21 new stamp designs to purchase.  I ordered them all and they arrived today.  After cataloguing them on my spreadsheet, I got down to play.

The "Blackberry" stamp took my fancy for my first make using the new stamps, hence the tag above.

For the background, I cut a piece of white card into a tag.  I then covered it with "Bundled Sage" Distress Oxide Ink.  I then lay the Lavinia Stamps "Foliage" stencil over the tag and used the same ink with a blending brush, which gave a tonal look to the background.

I stamped the blackberry image in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink and then coloured the image using various shades of Distress Oxide Inks applied with a paint brush.

Funky Fossil Scandi Garden on Lovely Leaves Card

Here's a card I made for a friend who has always had an ear for me.

I've used the Funky Fossil "Scandi Garden" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

In the background, I have "Worn Lipstick" Distress Oxide Ink through the Funky Fossil "Lovely Leaves" stencil" darker on one edge, fading to white on the other.

Woodware "Bubble Bloom - Michelle Anniversary Card

I've made this anniversary card for friends who will be celebrating later this month.

For the background, I have used a technique shared by the super talented Eileen Godwin, using Distress Oxide Inks. I used Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberry.

The stamped image, in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink is by Woodware and is called. "Bubble Bloom - Michelle JGS392".  I've coloured it using Distress Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry for the flowers and "Twisted Citron" for the leaves.  I've added white areas to the flowers using a Posca Pen then covered the flowers with Ranger "Glossy Accents" for a more 3D look.

I stamped the sentiment, which is by "My Favourite Things" in Vesafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink.

Hero Arts "Heartfelt Background" Hello Card

My Mother-in-law has been very poorly in the last month or so, in fact for over three weeks she has had a bed in our local hospital.  Unfortunately, just over a week of her being there, she picked up Covid.  She is 83 and has COPD along with several other ailments so the Covid has taken over our concern rather than the reason she was admitted.

There is a no visiting rule in the hospital.  Other than my Hubby speaking to her once on the telephone that is the only actual contact we have been allowed to have with her since we saw her off in the ambulance, it is so very hard for all of us.

For this reason, I have made her a card saying "Hello" instead of a Mother's Day card.  Somehow a Mother's Day card doesn't seem appropriate.

I have used a Hero Arts "Heartfelt Background" red rubber stamp with Versafine Clair "Charming Pink" ink.

For the sentiment I used a Waffle Flower stamp from their "Oversized Hello" stamp set (271309), using Wow! Embossing Ink with Wow! Rich Gold Embossing Powder and heat set it.  I then die cut the sentiment and adhered it onto the card.

Tomorrow we will take a bag of my Mother-in-law's favourite sweeties along to the hospital and leave it at reception for them to take up to the ward.  That's all we can do for her at the moment.

Funky Fossil "Guitar Hero" Birthday Card

Here's a birthday card I have made by using products by Funky Fossil Designs.

I started by using a sheet of the Funky Fossil "Patina" patterned paper for the background.

I heat embossed the "Happy Birthday" using aWow! clear embosing pad and Wow! Rich Gold Embossing Powder and heat set.  The sentiment is part of the Funky Fossil "Happy Words" stamp set.

I repeated the process using the guitar and the sentiment from the Funky Fossil "Guitar Hero" stamp set.

I used "Ripe Persimmon" Distress Oxide Ink through the Funky Fossil "Alpha Numeric" stencil.

I then stamped the guitar heads which are part of the Funky Fossil "Guitar Hero" stamp set using Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink.

Finally, I added some splatters of white and gold acrylic paint, and added a gold edge using a Posca Pen.

Funky Fossil New Stamp Set "Artsy" Preview

Today I am able to preview a brand new clear stamp set from Funky Fossil Designs called "Artsy".  A line drawing stamp set of paint brushes, pencils tubes and some fab words too.

For this card, I have stamped the paint brush in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink and the "LIve Carefully" in Versafine Clair "Glamorous" pink ink.  I've then coated in Wow! clear embossing powder and heat set.

For the splashes of pink and yellow, I have used "Squeezed Lemonade" and "Picked Raspberry" Distress Oxide Inks, I've used the same inks to give a splatter effect.

Along the paint brush, I have stamped the words "Enjoy the ride", part of another new stamp set called "Small Print 2", in Wow! clear embossing ink, then coated it with Wow! Metallic Silver super fine embossing powder and heat set.

Finally, I have added dots of colour to the pallette using Posca Pens.

Creating Gel Press and Funky Fossil Backgrounds

Last night before tea, I decided to make a few backgrounds, using the gel press and stencils.

I decided to use acrylic paint, brayered to a thin layer on the gel plate.  I then lay the stencil over the top, applying slight pressure all over.  Removed the stencil and brayered a small amount of white acrylic paint over the top and then took the impression.  Every one is different, even when using the same colour paints.  I love the final reveal and always find myself ooohing and aaahhhing over them.

For the top image I used the Funky Fossil "Lots of pips" stencil.

For the lower photo with the circles I used the Funky Fossil "In the groove" stencil.

Lavinia Stamps "Fairy Thistles" wax resist tag

Today I have been playing with my Lavinia Stamps.

I used a Brusho "Wax Stick" to create the wax resist grid in the background and then swooshing the tag through various colours of Distress Oxide inks left on my glass mat after assorted projects.

I stamped the Lavinia "Fairy Thistles" and "Single Fairy Thistles" in Versafine Clair "Purple Delight" ink and coloured them with assorted Posca Pens and Signo glitter pens.  I stamped the "Words of spring" verse in Versafine Clair "Charming Pink" ink.
